Jamie & Tommy's Wedding Highlights

WOW! What an event! Jamie and Tommy's wedding in April was incredible! Jamie was one of the most beautiful brides I have worked with and Tommy was such a sweetie and you could really feel their love all around. This event was a major undertaking (never mind I was 8 months pregnant!), complete with gorgeous total event design by Corums in Pleasant Garden, Renee and her staff who worked so hard for us at Sweet Basil's, Canterbury School staff, and of course our special guest and vendor, Bronwen Weber of Frosted Art Bakery in Dallas, TX for making Jamie's beautiful, 7 foot, "dream cake" come true! And none of this would have been possible without Jamie's vision for a special Medieval style wedding...what fun it was to plan with she and her mom and dad! Special thanks to my friends, Hooman at Vesic Photography and to Matt and Melissa of Lifestage Videography! Aubrey is 2 months old!

Ok... I couldn't resist. Aubrey is just perfect. Everyday I am amazed at how much I love her more and more. She's the "spittin' image" of her daddy and sometimes I wonder if that "helps" me love her so much more... he's a cutie you know! I'm having fun with my new camera - taking shots that I hope catch her "spirit" and making sure I document her little baby details. She just got back from her 2 month checkup and she's growing like crazy! She now weighs 10 lbs. 15 oz. and has grown 2 inches. She's been enjoying visits with her family from Indiana and locally and loves to be talked to...thanks to her Granny! We're trying to teach her "Da-Da" because her mommy will get MAJOR BONUS POINTS for teaching her that!! Jacob has adjusted to having a baby sister in the house now and he loves to see all the new things she does everyday. God has truly blessed us with Aubrey. A Great Father/Daughter Dance Song

Looking for the perfect "daddy/daughter dance" song? I have it for you...well, I should say one of my beautiful brides has it! Jamie Tate (formerly Jamie Crumley) married Tommy Tate on a beautiful April 18, 2009 evening and had a gorgeous wedding and reception (photos to follow soon). Jamie and her father flew to Nashville to write and record the song "Daddy Let's Dance" that they later used to dance to at her wedding. It was a GREAT song... made me cry (of course!) and has a great hook to it! Now Jamie is releasing "Daddy Let's Dance" to the world and, coming from a singer's perspective myself and one who is tried her hand at the music industry many years ago, I can tell you this is quite an accomplishment! The official CD release party is on Tuesday, July 21st from 6-8 pm at the Shoppes On Dixie shopping center in Asheboro located on Hwy 64 right at the intersection of Zoo Parkway. Jamie will be debuting her final master version of the song, performing the song live, signing autographs and refreshments will be served. I am so proud of Jamie and hope all of you will come out and support her in this great accomplishment! You can also download the single on itunes or at Daddy Let's Dance after the release party on July 21st. Way to go Jamie!

Mickey, Jacob and I would like to announce that Aubrey Kathryn Denton was born Wednesday, June 10, 2009 via scheduled c-section!!! She is HEALTHY, beautiful and looks just like her daddy (minus the goatee!). She arrived at 8:47 AM and weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz.! She is such a blessing...a little sleepyhead...and a BIG eater!! She loves her daddy's voice and loves looking at him and cuddling with him...(who wouldn't!?) Her big brother, Jacob loves her lots too! He loves that she sticks out her tongue at him. Thanks to all for your prayers and encouraging emails and calls!

WHEW! 2 more days til our baby girl's arrival! Advice to ladies... do this BEFORE 35. Or get in shape pre-baby!! Seriously... we are super excited to see our little girl this week! Many of you know I'm on an extended Maternity Leave (even though baby Aubrey has not arrived yet!) and so my wedding "season" just ended last weekend. I've had a blast but am ready for some R&R before the baby comes. I'll be taking at least a year off once she arrives! One of my favorite things to do these days is cuddle up on Baby Beck, my nephew. He's 4 1/2 months old and cute as he can be. I also got a new camera and am practicing with it and what better subject material than a baby! Here are some photos I took this past weekend of him. Believe it or not, my winter has been pretty crazy with weddings so I'm just now posting some much needed cute photos of Jacob. Lucky for me, he's patient about having his time in the spotlight! It's a bit of a hodge-podge but here's some photos from the last couple of months...I'll explain the photos as they are posted. Here's our cutie!

Jamé and Eoin's Wedding Day

I have waited way too long to post this event...by far, this was the most beautiful wedding I've planned (in my opinion) and absolutely the most fun I've had in 5 short months of planning! The bride, Jamé and her fiance, Eoin (pronounced like Owen) were in Ireland during almost the entire process of planning, so I had the privilege of planning with Jamé's mother, Jennifer, who has extremely wonderful taste! Mother's of the bride get a bad wrap in my opinion...I had a blast with Jennifer and her family made me (and my family!) feel like a part of theirs from the beginning. To top it all off, we hired some of my favorite vendors: Greg at The Millennium Center for the reception site (love this place!!), Wayne at Floral Visions Design Studio for the GORGEOUS flowers, Liz at Grayhall Designs designed our beautiful stationary items, including Jamé and Eoin's logo that was used almost everywhere, Updo's for hair/makeup, Babs and Scott at Poetic Reality Productions and of course, Logan Jarrard for his fantastic , "put tears in your eyes" photos that he is famous for! Logan let me "borrow" some of his shots from his blog here to post for your enjoyment. This wedding was a lot of work with a lot of details to take care of, and I really never knew I could have so much fun working so hard!! Thanks to the Tierneys and the O'Sullivans for a very, very memorable experience and for loving on my family as you did...we love you guys!

Playing Catch-up

What a whirlwind December and January! I was deep in the throes of planning a gorgeous January 24th wedding and having a lot of fun doing it. More on that later, complete with photos! So, I've just now gotten to my Christmas photos...Mickey, Jacob and I had a great Christmas this year. It may not look like it, but we DID scale back on the gift giving. We have overdone it in years past. Here's some photos of our Christmas celebrations, both with our local family and at home on Christmas Day! I'm leaving out the photos of my niece, Ava in her birthday suit..lol...after all the celebrations on Christmas Eve, she decided she wanted to run into the Great Room with just her frilly socks and black patent shoes and say, "I'm NAAAKKEDDD!" But I have to say it was hilarious! Enjoy!

We're Having a Girl!

Imagine our surprise (for those of you who know us well!) when the ultrasound showed us on Monday that we were having a little girl!! We feel so blessed by this miracle! I think Mickey and I both were expecting a boy...and why, I'm not sure (thanks to Mickey's Dad!). But my favorite reaction was that of our son, Jacob. He had "requested" a little sister all along, and when we told him the news, he said "Alright! I win! Yes!" with all the joy a 5 year old big brother could muster! Well, congratulations Jacob...yes, you win. As we all do...thank you Lord!

Baby New Year Maier! (well, almost!)

This Auntie and Uncle are PROUD to announce that Beck Lachlan Maier arrived at 1:46 AM on New Year's Eve weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long!! He was an early New Year's Eve present to all of our family and we love him so much already! He's SO CUTE! Mommy Kristi and Daddy Mark are doing great and are at home with him now. Big sister Ava Grace is super excited and loves to show Baby Beck off to everyone. She loves to touch him and hold him and kiss on him...sweet! Our son, Jacob, who is off having some fun at the beach with his Nana and Papaw, will get to meet his new cousin next week. Beck's so sweet and cuddly that it's hard for us to stay away til then...especially Uncle Mickey, who is completely smitten!! Here are some photos taken of Baby Beck on his first full day. Congrats Kristi, Mark and Ava!! Welcome Baby Beck!

Fall Family Portraits

Instead of sending photos out this year via Christmas cards, I decided to let technology do it for me. In October, Mickey, Jacob and I had family portraits made by McCardell Photography. If you follow this blog or my website, you know I am a big fan of Renee and Jonathan's work and we were really excited to have them do the honors this year! Also, my sister's family joined us for some shots as well. You'll see Kristi, VERY pregnant (who at this posting is currently in the hospital in LABOR!!) and her husband, Mark and their 2 1/2 year old, Ava. Jacob and Ava had a blast getting to be themselves and we love our photos! Special thanks to McCardell Photography for (ONCE AGAIN!) phenomenal photos and for braving the cold with us to get these special memories! Hopefully my next post will be of "Baby New Year Maier"!!

Jacob at The Polar Express

This past weekend, Mickey, Jacob and I went to Bryson City, NC to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway to hop aboard The Polar Express. If you've ever seen the movie you know it's really great! If not, now's the perfect time of the year to rent it. Jacob enjoyed himself and loved seeing Santa and asking for "Star Wars stuff". And of course he received the sleigh bell at the end of his trip for "believing"! The big hit for Mickey and myself was the Train Museum with the model trains on display. One display was MASSIVE and as you can see in the following photos, some of the details are very realistic. There were power lines, waterfalls, trestles, a school, a make-believe car accident... on and on. It was really something to see. Jacob was looking forward to this for a long time and we're glad we could share in his Christmas joy!!

Jacob Splish-Splashes

Jacob has forever begged to go out and "splish-splash" in the big puddles and since I'm a little anal-retentive about him getting dirty (!) I have always "forgotten" about it. But a few weeks ago, when we got a good dose of rain, the puddles were perfect. So after school one day, I let him have at it! He had a blast and he wasn't the least bit shy about getting wet... try soaking wet! We finished off with a warm bath and he was happy as he could be. Here are some photos I took of his long-awaited "splash session".

Jacob had a good time trick or treating in our neighborhood this past Halloween. He was "Darth Vader" complete with heavy breathing sounds (thanks to technology) and a light saber. He also got to scare up some treats from his special friend, Mrs. Cheryl (see photos). I think he was more excited about that stop than any other! Here are some shots of our scary friend...enjoy!

What fun it was to help Cathy and Chris plan their August wedding!! Their wedding had the best vendors and it was my first time working with a couple of them! inContrast Images was their photographer and they did an awesome job! I have to admit, I'm one of their blogstalkers!! =-) They were so sweet to let me "borrow" some of their photos from their blog to post here. Also, a shout-out to Sweet Basil's for the incredible food and service. Hands down, THE BEST CATERER in the Triad!! I have never worked with a more professional staff and never tasted such fresh, yummy food! Our niece, Ava Grace, recently went to Myrtle Beach with her Granny Nanny and I'm sure they had a blast! Granny Nanny and Ava are BFF's! Ava, much to her mommy, Kristi's, joy is a true "girly girl" as evidenced in some of these photos taken of her at the beach. I love her little white beach dress and her strawberry blonde curls. One of our recent hurricanes was out at sea rocking the waves and creating a great backdrop for these shots. Enjoy these shots of this cutie patootie!!

Jacob recently started his first Kempo Karate class and wanted me to take some photos of him in his new Karate outfit. I thought I'd share some photos of it on the blog. He loves being on my blog! The first photo is of him holding the wood block he broke on his first try with his elbow. It says "Great Job!" Mr. Mike, his instructor, called him "Muscle Boy". Go Jacob!

A Special Visit

This past Labor Day Holiday weekend we had the special treat of sharing it with Mickey's mom! She is from Indiana, where Mickey grew up, and she flew down for a visit. We also got to have a little family cookout that included my family as well on Sunday night. Mickey and his mom, Allana, are very close and have a special bond and I always enjoy spending time with her and the rest of his family. Jacob got to spend some time with her as well...here are some photos of her time with us here. We miss you already, Mom!

Jacob's First Day of Kindergarten

KINDERGARTEN??!! When did we get to Kindergarten!?? Time DOES fly with a little one, and it seems like it was just yesterday that I was helping Jacob blow out his first birthday candle. But here I was today, at Jacob's school, walking him into class. I have to admit, I got a little teary-eyed...and yes, I took photos of his first moments. He's not a baby anymore!! (But he'll always be MY BABY!) And I think I came to that realization this morning, just before we walked out the door for school, Jacob plainly said to Mickey and I, "Don't worry, I'll be home in time for dinner." Nuff said! Go get 'em Jacob!

Mary and Gilbert - Engagement Session

Mary and Gilbert's wedding is fast-approaching...October 11, 2008, and that day is very special to me since it will be my 1st Wedding Anniversary!! I have to tell you that Mary and Gilbert are very special to me as well...I think Mary and I are alot alike and Gilbert is so sweet and easy-going. They are having a beautiful wedding with an awesome reception afterwards...I might have to cut a rug myself! Pixels on Paper out of Charlotte will be photographing the wedding day, but recently they shot Mary and Gilbert's engagement session. Misty and Ryan are an awesome husband and wife team and have shot one of my weddings before (see my website). I believe they captured the true essence of this great couple in this engagement session. Mary is a bit sassy yet very kind and Gilbert is, well...he's just himself, easy-going. Congrats, Mary and Gilbert! I'm looking forward to seeing your day come together!

This past Saturday, August 9, I had the privilege of witnessing Cathy and Chris's wedding day! I have been helping them plan their wedding since the beginning of this year and finally got to see the end result this weekend. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding for a really great couple...just perfect! Jacob at the Museum

Jacob, Mickey and I went to the Natural Science Center Museum in Greensboro a few weeks ago and Jacob really had a great time. It was super hot outside that day but the A/C inside was a nice change. Jacob's favorite part of the museum may have been the Meerkats...they are so funny...I love to see how they interact. It's almost humanlike. They even sit like us! A few days after our visit to the museum, we moved from Greensboro to Summerfield to our "new" house. Jacob got a much bigger yard to play in and a playset (he calls it a "fort") so I included a couple photos at the end of us playing this week in the "fort".

Jacob's New Adventure in Swimming

Our son, Jacob, loves to play in the water and swim, so we thought we'd start him out on the right foot by signing up for swim lessons this summer. Jake is already a good swimmer and definitely not afraid of the water, so this was a pretty easy "assignment" for him. He loved his teacher and always wanted to be "first"! It was a hot, hot day for this beautiful Wake Forest University wedding and reception at Millennium Center! But on June 7, 2008, Amy and Justin "tied the knot"! (Sorry, had to!!) Jacob's Day Out with Thomas

My son, Jacob, is a real fan of Thomas the Tank Engine and every June, Thomas comes to Tweetsie Railroad for a week. This year is probably Jake's last year to see Thomas (he's getting a little old for the rides), but it's his 4th year in a row visiting Thomas at Tweetsie. We've had so much fun sharing memories together every year and I know Jake always looks forward to riding on the train as Thomas leads the way! Here are some photos from our most recent visit earlier this month.

Lin and Tong - The Wedding Day

Whew! How time flies! This wedding season has been super busy and I am JUST NOW getting to the blog for the first time in over a month! But what a way for the season to start...Lin and Tong were married at the O'Henry Hotel on May 18, 2008. The weather started out fine, but by mid afternoon we were faced with some weather challenges! Needless to say, depending on when you asked me, we were "in for the ceremony", then "out for the ceremony"! Thank God (literally!) we were blessed with clearer weather just minutes before the ceremony and were able to have it outside as Lin and Tong had hoped! Lin was VERY laid back and both she and Tong seemed to not have a care in the world. Now THAT'S what I hope for in each wedding I coordinate! And to capture the day's events, was Logan Jarrard, one of my absolute favorite photographers! Spring has Sprung!

My son, Jacob, was out for "an adventure" as he calls it, the other day and came upon a catepillar innocently inching his way up the sidewalk...to some really great green grass, I'm sure. Too bad for the catepillar though, because "Jake the Scavenger" was looking for some little friends to spy on! He had the catepillar inside a jar with airholes for probably 2 hours when he finally LET ME let him go. Here are some photos just before the "very hungry catepillar" was freed from captivity.

Lin and Tong's Engagement Session

For the past several months, I've had the pleasure of planning Lin and Tong's wedding. They have been SO easy to work with and have an incredible vision for their wedding day. Lin and Tong will be getting married on Sunday, May 18 and I am looking forward to seeing their wedding finally become reality after all these months! Lin and Tong chose Logan Jarrard as their photographer (he is incredible!!) and here are some of their E-session shots he took just recently. Bitty Ball is here!

My almost 5 year old son, Jacob, has just joined the Greensboro Parks & Rec Bitty Ball league and he's having a blast! As a mother, I'm getting used to the fact that he is now in sports and I have to let him "get bruised and beat up a bit" as my husband, Mickey puts it. God help me! Here are some shots I took of him at his first practice. I think he's a great b-ball player, but I may be just a bit biased!

Ava Grace's 2nd Birthday Party

Last Saturday, Mickey and I went to our niece, Ava Grace's 2nd birthday party. She is so cute (as only an auntie can claim)! She had a blast with lots and lots of friends and loved her new Elmo and piano she received as gifts. I thought I would post some pics of her party here but my favorites are the ones of her "sneaking" a piece of icing...she kept looking back to see if her mommy was looking! Go ahead, Ava Grace, eat your cake!

Revolution Mill Studios

Last week I visited Revolution Mill Studios to take another tour of their gorgeous Events Center with one of my brides, Cathy. If you are looking for a ceremony or reception site with charm, elegance and character, this is the place! I took some photos of the site while we toured (remember I'm NOT a photographer...I'm a wedding planner thank God!) but definitely check out this place if you are undecided on a ceremony or reception site. I'm looking forward to seeing this place in all it's glory in August for Cathy & Chris's wedding!

I have wanted to do this forever...I've been inspired by other wedding professionals who blog and I thought it would be a neat idea to have a Wedding Coordinator blog! So... drumroll...here it is! I will try to keep you up to date on the blog as much as possible. You'll see all kinds of things on here, not just weddings...that's why I named my blog "Insights"... to give you insight into wedding planning, the wedding industry and trends, and my world, in general! Feel free to post comments or email me! To start out, I thought I'd show you a photo of my family, taken at our October 11th, 2007 wedding, since they are my heart and soul and why I do what I do!
